Why Blog?

On February 28, 2012, in Uncategorized, by David Jaeger

I had always known that blogging was a useful tool that businesses could use to communicate to customers, but until recently I didn’t realized how big an impact blogging can actually have on your business.  First off blogging is not solely for informing customers about your company, although that is one of the big reasons while you are blogging you are also constantly keeping yourself up to date with what’s going on in the industry and in turn you are better preparing yourself for questions or concerns customers may have about your products or services. As Marcus Sheridan said “writing a blog post is like practicing for the game.”  With that being said it is also important that you do not sacrifice quality for quantity.  Since all customers do not have the luxury of speaking with you face to face they base your company off what they read on your blog, if that information comes off as intelligent and well thought out instead of just thrown together customers will be more inclined to have a favorable image of your company and in turn will be more inclined to make a purchase. A good tip could be to have blogger photos so that customers can put a face to who is writing and can associate themselves more with the company.  Finally, since your customers are the most important thing to your business it is important to make sure that you have a comments sections so that you can listen to what customers are saying about your company, both good and bad, and hopefully use that info to improve your products or services.

Welcome to my blog.  I am currently enrolled in Strategic Internet Marketing (MKTG 470) taught by Dr. Theresa B. Clarke at James Madison University.  As one of the course requirements, all students will be completing some of the assignments as blog posts.  This is my first official blog post for Dr. Clarke’s course in the JMU Department of Marketing.
